I love Halloween. I love decorating my house for Halloween. I love buying candy. I love taking Sofia trick or treating. I often wonder why so many parents opt to go to the mall or some party on Halloween instead of trick or treating. I honestly do not think the mall is any safer. When you take into consideration the amount of people there are at the mall on Halloween, it actually becomes more of hazard. The odds of anyone can just coming by and taking your kid away, while you get distracted for just second seems a bit higher. Besides, the stores never have enough candy and those costume contests are really lame.
I would rather take the time to walk Sofia around the block, personally escort her to the door and make sure that no looney will be giving her candy. Also, it's excersise and you get to meet your neighbors and just might make someone's day. Last year, I decided to buck the system and take her trick or treating. We knocked on a couple of doors and the neighbors were so happy to finally see a kid. Hello....overprotective parents of the world....people actually want you to come and get candy from them.
Anyways, I digress. This year I asked Sofia what she wanted to be for Halloween. In the past, I always picked her costume because, well...she really couldn't speak all that well. Now at the ripe age of 3 she told me that she wanted to be a princess. So, I took her to the Disney Store (the birth place of Princesses) so that she could pick a costume. I would have bet major bucks that she was going to pick Cinderella. I mean, Sofia LOVES Cinderella. Do you have any idea how many times I've seen that damn movie? Do you have any idea how many times I've reinacted the whole Fairy Godmother bit?? Yeah... I love that my daughter thinks I'm an overweight senior citizen. Anyways, so here I am thinking she will go for the whole ice blue dress and glass slippers and she ends up picking Snow White. Weird? She's never even seen the movie. Hell...I don't think I've ever seen the movie. Either way, she looks adorable. Check it out for yourself:
